Southern Philosophy Brewery has been a long time dream of the founders who’s lust/affection for creating beer drove them to pursue their passion full time. The brewery is situated in a building built in the 1870’s and has been fully restored to create an atmosphere that keeps the tradition of the old southern feel combined with the modern comfort and social warmth. We are a brewpub-type brewery, producing 3.5 to 10 barrel batches at a time which allows us to be creative and continuously offer new tastes, styles and fresh beer to our patrons. We make a quality brick and mortar craft product, made by hand and care. Our taproom bar also serves craft cocktails, cider, wine and growlers of beer to go. Our food consists of light fair of artisanal wood-fired pizzas, salads and charcuterie. We plan to partner with local farmers, striving to include quality ingredients from Georgia and regional areas.

The town of Bainbridge possesses a strong sense of community, which has been important to our creation. The Downtown Development Director, along with friends from the American Restaurant, several locals and continuous local interest from the community, have been integral in supporting our dream.
The brewery is situated on Willis Park in the historic main square in downtown Bainbridge, encouraging new and old friends to congregate together to share stories, laughter and their mutual admiration for great beer. We also hope that our location will entice those passing through to stop in and discover beautiful Bainbridge.

As not just Southerners but people who love to live, visit, and enjoy the south, we believe that Southern Philosophy means something different to all of us. To us it’s the mild winters and all-year outdoors, swinging on the front porch swing, floating on the river, fishing in the gulf, trekking through the woods, southern food, enjoying company with family and friends and of course beer made in the south using locally sourced ingredients.Plan a Visit

Table Stout

Parti-gyle is a style that goes back for centuries. The idea is that you make a second beer with the remaining fermentable sugars and substance of the first beer. In our case we are in the process of creating a new imperial stout but also utilized our Belgian house yeast and a small amount of our Belgian wit that was remaining in the fermentor. Everything kindof lined up perfectly for this to work together to create a complex, but low ABV dark beer. Smooth, rich, creamy notes of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, subtle fruitiness, black pepper. Refreshing and very satisfying.

Dr. Spreuss IPA(Seasonal)

Southern Philosophy’s Dr. Spreuss IPA, a Sprucetip HAZY IPA inspired by the season and historical colonial spruce beers that Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson would have produced and enjoyed. The Spruce was sourced from an FDA approved supplier that harvests at high elevation in Colorado. In addition to the Spruce tips the beer is hopped with Citra, Southern Cross, Columbus and Azacca hops.
